About the LDA

The objectives of the London Dressage Association are: (excerpted from the constitution)
"To foster and encourage interest and participation in dressage riding and the ownership of dressage horses; to foster an interest among horsemen of various disciplines and the general public in the utility and beauty of dressage, ...; to encourage instruction, demonstrations, shows, competitions and similar ancillary events involving dressage riding; ..."

We are a member club the Canadian Dressage Owners and Riders Association (CADORA) and the Ontario branch of CADORA, CADORA Ontario. We also have a club affiliation with Dressage Canada (DC).

We offer monthly Equine-Hippique Canada (EC) sanctioned dressage shows between May and September. Both Bronze and Silver classes are offered on the same day and at the same facility.

During the off-season we organize clinics for our members and interested parties.

The affairs of the LDA are administered by an executive board, elected at the annual AGM. The current Executive members and their areas of responsibility, as well as other key individuals, are listed on the contacts page (executive members are identified by a "*").

Interested in joining? For further information on membership, please read on. To join, please fill out a Membership Form and mail it (with your payment) to the address indicated on the form. For further information on the various memberships required for the different levels of shows, please see the information on the showing page.

Membership in the LDA and CADORA

As mentioned, the LDA is a local chapter of CADORA, and the usual way to join CADORA is via a local club. This is also called a "Full" membership. When you join the LDA and CADORA, we will forward your payment and address information to both CAODRA and CAODRA-Ontario - convenient one-stop shopping! You will become a member in all three organizations: LDA, CADORA-Ontario, CADORA, and be eligible for all the member benefits of all three organizations. In particular:
  1. LDA Awards and Prizes.
  2. A copy of the LDA newsletter.
  3. A say in all LDA activities.
  4. Hold office on the LDA executive.
  5. Member rates at all LDA competitions and clinics, and first consideration on entry to all club activities, if entries must be limited.
  6. All the benefits of CADORA and CADORA-Ontario membership as outlined on their respective websites, such as the Omnibus (test-booklet), their newsletters, and eligibility for their Awards Programs.

LDA Only Membership

This is also called a "supporting" membership, and does NOT include membership in CADORA or CADORA-Ont. You will therefore NOT receive an Omnibus and you will not be eligible for their awards programs and prizes, unless you have those memberships via another club or have directly purchased them. This membership does entitle you to
  1. LDA Awards and Prizes.
  2. A copy of the LDA newsletter.
  3. A say in all LDA activities.
  4. Hold office on the LDA executive. (Except as Chair or Area-Rep for CADORA and Cadora-Ont).
  5. Club rates at all LDA competitions and clinics, and first consideration on entry to all club activities, if entries must be limited.

Please note that other memberships, such as OEF, EC, and DC are not handled by us in either case. You will have to join those organisations individually.
